Umrah visa requirements for Pakistanis are a valid passport, CNIC, photographs to the required specification, meningococcal ACYW and polio vaccination certificates, and a confirmed package with return ticket and hotel bookings. Children need their own passport, B-Form and visa. The visa is applied for through a MORA-attested Umrah operator or the Saudi Nusuk Umrah platform.
Key points
- Every pilgrim, including babies, needs their own passport, Umrah visa and vaccination records.
- Under current Saudi rules, all Umrah pilgrims need a meningococcal ACYW vaccine, and travellers from Pakistan also need a polio vaccine.
- Check the passport validity rule for your travel dates with your operator or the official source, rather than relying on last season's advice.
- Your name must be spelt the same on passport, visa and ticket; one letter's difference can stop you boarding.
- The visa comes through a MORA-attested Umrah operator or the Saudi Nusuk Umrah platform, never through an unregistered agent.
The Umrah visa requirements for Pakistani pilgrims are short but strict: a valid passport, your CNIC, photographs to the given specification, meningococcal and polio vaccination certificates, and a confirmed package with return travel and hotels. Families also need proof of relationship and each child's own documents. This checklist builds on our Umrah visa guide for Pakistanis, which links to the official sources.
Most delays come not from a missing document but from small mismatches: a misspelt name, an expired certificate, a photo that fails the specification. If you would like someone to check your file before it goes in, VisaWala's Umrah and Hajj service starts with a free consultation.
What is an Umrah visa?
An Umrah visa is a Saudi visa issued for performing Umrah and visiting Madinah outside the Hajj period. From Pakistan, it is issued as part of a package from a provider licensed by the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, and the permitted stay is set by the Saudi authorities and shown on the visa. It cannot be used for Hajj or for work.
Official information on the visa is published on Saudi Arabia's KSA Visa platform, and how each season opens and closes is explained in our Umrah visa hub.
Umrah visa requirements: the full documents checklist
Use this table as your checklist. Your operator or the Nusuk platform may want items in a particular format, so follow their instructions where they differ.
| Who | Document | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Everyone | Pakistani passport | Validity meets the current Saudi rule for your dates, with blank pages and no damage |
| Everyone | CNIC | Name and date of birth match the passport exactly |
| Everyone | Recent photographs | Taken to the background, size and face rules you are given |
| Everyone | Meningococcal (ACYW) vaccination certificate | Given early enough before travel and still valid on your dates |
| Everyone | Polio vaccination certificate | Issued for international travel and kept with your passport |
| Everyone | Return ticket, hotel and transport bookings | Dates match the visa and each other |
| Families and children | NADRA Family Registration Certificate or marriage certificate | Shows how travellers are related, if you are asked |
| Families and children | Each child's passport and B-Form (Child Registration Certificate) | Every child, babies included, has their own passport and visa |
| Health | Doctor's note for any long-term condition | Lists your medicines, which travel in their original packaging |
| Health | Proof of COVID-19 vaccination | Only if you are in a group the Saudi health rules list, such as older pilgrims or pregnant women |
| Special cases | Your existing Saudi visa or residence details | Holders of another valid Saudi visa can book Umrah through Nusuk instead |
| Special cases | Any letter or consent your operator or airline asks for | Some may set their own conditions, for example for minors travelling without a parent |
What are the passport rules for an Umrah visa?
Your passport must meet the validity rule Saudi Arabia sets for your travel dates. That rule has changed over the years, so ask your operator for the current requirement, or check the official Saudi visa platform, before you book. Do not rely on what a relative was told last season.
If your passport is close to expiry, renew it before you apply. A new passport has a new number, and the visa must carry the number of the passport you actually travel on. Passport offices can be busy before Ramadan and the holidays, so start early.
Check exactly how your given name and surname are printed on the photo page of your passport. That spelling, not the one on your CNIC or the one your family usually writes, is what should go on the visa and the ticket.
Which vaccines do you need for Umrah from Pakistan?
Under the Saudi Ministry of Health's current rules, these are the vaccines that matter for pilgrims from Pakistan:
- Meningitis vaccine (meningococcal ACYW): required for all Umrah pilgrims. The certificate must show the vaccine and the date, and it must have been given early enough before travel and still be valid when you arrive. The exact timing rules are in the Saudi health requirements.
- Polio vaccine: required for travellers from Pakistan and recorded on a certificate for international travel. Because of international polio rules, you may also be asked for proof when leaving Pakistan.
- COVID-19 vaccine: proof is needed only by certain higher-risk groups listed in the Saudi rules, such as older pilgrims and pregnant women.
Get vaccinated at a recognised vaccination centre and make sure each certificate shows your name exactly as in your passport. Health rules are reviewed each season, so check the latest Saudi notice or ask your operator shortly before you travel.
Umrah visa for children: what extra do you need?
Every child, from newborns upwards, needs their own passport and their own Umrah visa; a child cannot travel on a parent's passport. You will also need each child's B-Form (the NADRA Child Registration Certificate), and it helps to carry the Family Registration Certificate to show who the parents are.
- Apply for a child's passport early, since the B-Form must be issued first
- Ask your doctor or operator which vaccines apply at your child's age
- If a child travels with one parent or with relatives, ask the operator and airline in advance what consent they need
- Babies' photographs must still meet the specification, which often takes a few attempts
Once you are there, a parent performs the rites on behalf of a very young child; our step-by-step guide to performing Umrah explains how.
How to apply for an Umrah visa from Pakistan
- Choose your dates against the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah's season calendar. Umrah visas are not issued for travel over the Hajj period.
- Choose your route: a Pakistani operator on MORA's list of attested Umrah tour operators, or a package booked directly on Nusuk Umrah.
- Get your vaccines and gather the documents in the checklist above.
- Hand over or upload your passport details, photograph and certificates, and the operator or platform submits the visa application.
- When the visa is issued, check every detail against your passport: name, passport number, date of birth and nationality.
- Install the Nusuk app, register, check your Umrah permit (or book it, if it is not already there) and book any Rawdah slot.
Should you apply through an operator or Nusuk?
Both routes lead to the same visa. What differs is who does the work and where you turn if something goes wrong.
| Question | MORA-attested Pakistani operator | Nusuk Umrah platform |
|---|---|---|
| Who submits the visa | The operator, using your documents | You, through the platform |
| Flights | Usually included | Booked separately by you |
| Face-to-face help in Urdu | Yes, in your city | No, the platform is online |
| If things go wrong | Complain to MORA under the Hajj and Umrah (Regulation) Act 2024 | Deal with the Saudi provider; MORA's complaint route covers Pakistani operators |
| Best for | Families, first-timers and elderly pilgrims | Confident travellers who like to arrange things themselves |
Before paying a Pakistani operator, check its name on the Ministry of Religious Affairs website, or browse Umrah consultants in Lahore and check their registration. Our guide to Umrah packages from Pakistan shows how to compare offers, and the Nusuk app guide covers the platform side.
Mistakes that delay or derail Umrah visas
- Name spellings that differ between passport, visa and ticket, such as Muhammad and Mohammad, or a surname left out
- Using a married name that does not appear in the passport
- An expired meningitis certificate, or one with no date
- A photo with the wrong background or size, which the system rejects
- Applying with the old passport number after a renewal
- Planning travel after the season's last date for Umrah visas or entry
- Handing passports and cash to an unregistered agent who then disappears
If you spot an error on an issued visa, tell your operator at once and have it corrected. Do not travel hoping nobody will notice; a mismatch can stop you boarding in Pakistan.
The last mistake on the list is the costliest. Our guide to spotting fake visa agents shows the warning signs.
Women, elderly pilgrims and other special cases
Saudi rules currently allow women to come for Umrah without a mahram, though airlines and operators may set their own conditions; our guide to Umrah for women from Pakistan explains what to check. Elderly pilgrims should carry a doctor's note and their medicines in original packaging, and ask for wheelchair help when booking.
If you already hold another valid Saudi visa, you may be able to book Umrah through Nusuk without a separate Umrah visa. Visit-visa holders cannot enter Makkah during the Hajj period, and only a Hajj visa allows you to perform Hajj. If your main aim is to see relatives living in the Kingdom, a Saudi family visit visa may suit you better.

Frequently asked questions
How long does it take to get an Umrah visa from Pakistan?
Saudi Arabia does not publish an official processing time for Umrah visas, so it depends on the season and on how complete your file is. Outside Ramadan and the holidays, visas are often issued quickly once a correct application is submitted; in peak periods it can take longer. Leave a comfortable margin before your flight, and get your operator's expected turnaround in writing.
Do I need an attested marriage certificate for Umrah?
Not usually for the visa itself, but couples and families may be asked to show how they are related, so carry the NADRA Family Registration Certificate or your marriage certificate. If your operator or airline asks for an attested or translated copy, ask exactly which attestation they need before paying anyone to arrange it.
Where can I get a polio certificate for Umrah in Pakistan?
Polio vaccination for international travellers is given at recognised government vaccination centres and recorded on a certificate for international travel. Your operator or local health office can tell you the nearest option in your city. Get it in good time before you fly, as the Saudi rules set when it must be given, check that your name matches your passport, and keep it with your travel papers.
Can overseas Pakistanis apply for an Umrah visa where they live?
Yes. Pakistanis living in the UK, the Gulf or elsewhere can book through an operator or Nusuk Umrah in their country of residence, and what Nusuk offers depends on where you live. Residents of Saudi Arabia book Umrah through Nusuk without a separate Umrah visa. Check the rules for the country you are applying from.
Can a woman get an Umrah visa without her husband?
Yes. Every pilgrim has their own visa, and Saudi rules currently allow women to come for Umrah without a mahram. Airlines and operators may apply their own conditions, such as travelling with a group, so ask before you book. Travel on a passport and CNIC in your own name, and keep copies of the family's documents.
What happens if my Umrah visa is refused?
Refusals often come down to document problems or earlier immigration issues in Saudi Arabia. Ask your operator for the reason, correct what you can, and check the refund terms in your contract, as visa charges may not be refundable. That is another reason to have the whole file checked carefully before it is submitted.
