Business Visa Guides for Pakistani Travellers

A business visa is for short trips to meet clients, visit suppliers, attend trade fairs or conferences, or negotiate and sign contracts. It is not a work visa. In almost every country you cannot take a job, be paid by a local organisation or deliver services to local customers while you are there as a business visitor.

Choose your destination

Some countries have a visa made for business, such as China's M visa, Saudi Arabia's business visit visa and Qatar's business visa. Others, including the UK, Canada, Australia and the Schengen states, use their ordinary visitor visa and expect you to show business evidence. The United States uses the B-1 category, which is usually issued together with B-2 as a B1/B2 visa.

Wherever you are going, officers look for the same things: a real host, a clear business purpose, enough money for the trip and strong reasons to return to Pakistan. These guides explain what each country asks for, step by step. Fees and processing times change, so check the official pages linked in each guide before you apply.

How to choose

  • Start with what you will actually do. Meetings, negotiations, site visits, conferences and trade fairs fit a business visit. Hands-on project work, a paid role or serving local customers needs a work visa.
  • Talk to your host early. In Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the UAE the host company or event organiser usually starts the visa process, and China expects an invitation that carries the company's official seal.
  • Visiting several European countries on one trip? Apply to the Schengen country where you will spend the most time, or the first one you enter if the stays are equal.
  • Check e-visa eligibility on the official portal before relying on it. Pakistan is on Azerbaijan's ASAN Visa list, while Türkiye's e-Visa is open to Pakistani passport holders only if they hold certain other valid visas or residence permits.
  • Prepare your company paperwork once and keep it current: SECP registration or partnership deed, NTN certificate, chamber of commerce membership, tax returns, and company and personal bank statements are asked for again and again.
  • If you travel often, ask about longer or multiple-entry visas, such as a UK long-term visit visa or a multiple-entry Schengen visa, once you have a clean travel record.

Questions people ask

No. A business visa or business visitor visa lets you visit for meetings, negotiations, conferences and similar activities while your job and income stay in Pakistan. If you will be employed, paid locally or deliver work for a local client, you need the destination's work visa or permit.

Expect to show an invitation from the host company, a letter from your employer or your own company, your company's registration and NTN certificate, chamber of commerce membership if you have it, tax returns, recent personal and company bank statements, and your travel history. Each guide lists the documents for that country.

In most countries a host may cover reasonable travel and accommodation costs, as long as you are not paid a salary or fee for work done there. The exact rules differ, so check the guide for your destination and say clearly in the invitation who is paying.

Yes. Instead of an employer letter, show that your business is real and active: NTN certificate, tax returns, business bank statements, chamber membership, and evidence of trade such as invoices, contracts or correspondence with the company you are visiting.

As early as the country allows. Appointment availability, document gathering and invitation letters all take time, and some countries have set windows for when you can apply. Check the current processing information on the official site before you book non-refundable travel.
