Australia Business Visitor Visa (600) from Pakistan

Business travellers from Pakistan use the Business Visitor stream of the Visitor visa (subclass 600). It lets you make business enquiries, negotiate or review contracts, and attend conferences, trade fairs or seminars, but not work for an Australian organisation or sell directly to the public. You apply online through ImmiAccount and must be outside Australia both when you apply and when the decision is made.

Who this is for

  • Business owners and managers making general business or employment enquiries
  • Exporters and importers investigating, negotiating, entering into or reviewing a business contract
  • Delegates attending a conference, trade fair or seminar, as long as the organisers are not paying them to take part
  • Members of an official government delegation from Pakistan

When another route fits better

  • You will work for, or provide services to, a business or organisation in Australia: look at a temporary work visa, such as the Temporary Work (Short Stay Specialist) visa (subclass 400).
  • You will sell goods or services directly to the public: this is not allowed on the Business Visitor stream.
  • The trip is purely a holiday or family visit: apply for the Tourist stream of the subclass 600 instead.

Documents to prepare

Identity and finances

  • Passport, and your CNIC where it is required
  • Itemised personal bank statements, pay slips or tax records showing you can fund the trip
  • Letter from your employer saying they expect you back at work
  • Evidence of family, property or other assets in Pakistan

Business visitor evidence

  • Invitation from the host organisation in Australia
  • Conference or trade fair registration details
  • Letter from your employer stating why you are visiting
  • Your plans for the stay and details of your Australian business contacts
  • Proof of your current employment and professional qualifications
  • Evidence your company is an active business, such as an annual report, SECP registration or tax filings
  • Evidence of earlier contact with Australian businesses

Step by step

  1. 1

Check your activities fit the stream

Business enquiries, contract negotiations, conferences and trade fairs fit. Working for an Australian business or selling to the public does not.

  2. 2

    Gather and translate your documents

Collect identity, financial and business evidence. Translate anything not in English. Translators outside Australia need not be accredited, but each translation must include their name, contact details and qualifications.

  3. 3

    Apply in ImmiAccount

Create or log in to ImmiAccount, complete the application, attach clear colour scans of your documents and pay the visa charge. Your application is not processed until you pay.

  4. 4

Give biometrics or health checks if asked

Home Affairs will tell you if it needs your biometrics, health examinations or a police certificate. Follow the instructions in the request.

  5. 5

    Wait for the written decision

Do not travel until you are told in writing that the visa is granted. Check your stay period, entries and conditions in the grant letter or in VEVO.

Costs to plan for

  • The visa application charge. Use the Visa Pricing Estimator for the current amount
  • Biometrics collection, if you are asked to give them
  • Health examinations and police certificates, if requested
  • Translation of documents not in English
  • Health insurance, which Home Affairs strongly recommends because visitors pay their own healthcare costs

Why applications get refused

  • Not convincing the officer that you are a genuine visitor who will stay only temporarily
  • Not enough evidence of funds for the stay and the return journey
  • Planned activities that look like working for, or providing services to, an Australian business
  • No clear evidence of the business purpose or that your company is active
  • An incomplete application. Home Affairs may decide without asking for more information
  • Health or character concerns, or unpaid debts to the Australian government

Tips before you apply

  • Attach everything with your application. You may not get a chance to add documents before a decision.
  • Each family member applies separately. You cannot include family in your application.
  • If you pay someone for immigration assistance on an Australian visa, they must be a registered migration agent, a legal practitioner or an exempt person.
  • You cannot extend this visa. If you need more time, you must apply for another visa, and some visas carry a no further stay condition.
